An important customer and innovation partner of Netgem, Monaco Telecom plans to introduce the new mobile phone application in June 2010, enabling iPhone-owning customers to control the interactive Monaco TV service powered by NetgemTV via their mobile phone.
Nokia is buying the Chicago-based private company for an undisclosed sum. The Finnish giant expects to close the buyout in the second quarter and launch “a new service offering utilizing the Novarra technology platform” later this year.

The two companies are working together through the Acision Innovation Network to provide an integrated offering for advanced parental control that is unique in today’s mobile marketplace. The solution enables operators to offer services such as monitoring and alerts to parents when a child encounters questionable messages. The joint solution is based on Acision’s Message Plus platform and Echometrix’s FamilySafe technology.

AT&T broadband connections – including wireline and wireless LaptopConnect cards – grew by 471,000 in the first quarter to reach 16.7 million in service. AT&T provides Wi-Fi access at no extra charge with qualifying AT&T high speed Internet plans, 3G LaptopConnect plans and select smartphone plans.
