IPass reaches 40 K in Europe

iPass Inc. (NasdaqGS:IPAS – News) a global provider of services that unify the management of enterprise mobility, today announced that it has surpassed 40,000 enterprise-grade Wi-Fi hotspots in Europe — the largest footprint of any service provider — and now offers broadband access in 31 European countries, from Ireland to Italy and Poland to Portugal. Major network additions in France and the UK drove iPass past the milestone. In addition to leading Europe in overall hotspots, iPass now counts more hotspots than any other provider in France, Germany and the UK. Around the world the iPass network comprises approximately 90,000 hotspots in 70 countries.

The five European countries where iPass offers its users the most Wi-Fi coverage, ranked by number of hotspots, are: United Kingdom (12,131), France (10,821), Germany (9,827), Switzerland (1,800) and the Netherlands (1,600). London is the best-covered city in Europe with 1,290 iPass- certified hotspots, followed by Paris, Berlin, Zurich and Munich. These statistics correspond to the trends illustrated by iPass’ recent Wi-Fi Hotspot Index, which showed London as the worldwide leader in terms of session numbers and growth.

“We work tirelessly to provide our customers with the high levels of coverage that they need to effectively conduct business across Europe,” said RenĂ© Hendrikse, Managing Director EMEA, iPass. “Wi-Fi hotspots have become a preferred way for companies to connect their employees around the globe, and the iPass service allows companies to take advantage of this technology in a way that is secure, simple for users and cost-effective.”
